Annette Patterson
Founder and Executive Director
Joshua Home an LGBTQ Safe Haven, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, was founded by minister, counselor, and author Annette Patterson. Joshua Home is at the forefront of residential care for LGBT+ youth. Today we'd like to introduce Annette Patterson, (she/her) Founder and Executive Director of Joshua Home. Annette is mother to five children, three of which are queer, and she knows firsthand the fears, and challenges some parents face when their child comes out.
Annette founded Joshua Home in 2013 and is passionate about supporting and educating parents and families of LGBTQ+ children so that they accept, continue to love, and care for their child.
Creating permanent gender-inclusive housing solutions and opportunities, supportive services, and programs for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, and more youth who are unaccompanied and homeless, in mainstream foster or group homes, or in the foster care or juvenile justice systems in San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.
Jewel Patterson
Secretary of the Board of Directors
Jewel Patterson is the Secretary of the Board of Directors for Joshua Home.
Jewel a passionate Black Queer woman dedicated to using creative and healing skills to serve traditionally overlooked communities.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Black Personhood: Activism, Arts, & Africana Studies from the Johnston Center for Integrative Studies. Additionally, she has a Master of Science in Counseling with a PPS certificate from California State University, San Bernardino.
Professionally, Jewel serves as a community organizer for COPE, a faith-based, Black-led grassroots non-profit organization in San Bernardino. In this role, she designed and launched a grassroots organizing and leadership development program for Black youth.
Jessica Martinez
Action Committee as our Social Media Lead volunteer
Today we are introducing Jessica Martinez (she/her) who is working with our Action Committee as our Social Media Lead volunteer.
Jessica holds a B.A in Race and Ethnic Studies and a M.S in Higher Education Administration. She has focused her professional career on addressing issues of systemic and interpersonal bias in the workplace as a diversity and inclusion educator.
Jessica is committed to centering anti-racism, intersectional feminism and transformative justice in all her endeavors.
Outside of work Jessica is an avid reader, who loves getting lost in books. She is particularly interested in Afrofuturist authors like Octavia Butler and N.K. Jemisin.
Jessica is excited to volunteer her time to an organization whose mission she so deeply believes in.
Phil Reynolds - Community Engagement Coordinator
Phil was born and raised in the Inland Empire. In his free time, he loves to cook, build, and play with his adorable dog, Ali-Floyd Wolfgang Reynolds.
He got his start in nonprofit work at an early age. He compiled 400+ service hours during high school. In 2012-13 he interned at Youth Futures in Ogden, Utah. This was an eye-opening experience. Youth Futures is a youth homeless shelter with 3 locations throughout the Wasatch Front and it was here he learned how LGBTQ youth are a disproportionately represented population amongst those struggling with homelessness.
After returning home to the IE early 2023, Phill searched for an opportunity to continue this much needed work. He’s excited to be part of an organization in a position to make such a needed difference. He's set a goal to raise $1,000,000.00 in his first year of service and with the help of our Fabulous community, he knows it’s possible!
Gilbert Alcaraz - Volunteer Coordinator
Gilbert Alcaraz is the Volunteer Coordinator for Joshua Home.
Gilbert was born and raised in San Bernardino country.
He is currently completing his B.A in psychology at Cal Poly Pomona.
Gilbert’s goal is to get his M.F.T to help end the stigma against the L.G.B.T. and is passionate about helping and uplifting the L.G.B.T.Q.I.A+ community.
Nick Daily - President of the Board of Directors
Daily (He/They) is the President of the Board of Directors for Joshua Home! He is an identical twin, child number four out of five, a momma’s boy, and the favorite. They identify as a Black, Queer, Non-binary Man.
Professionally, they serve as Founder and CEO of LuvServedDaily Consulting, a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Professional Development firm that centers love for all.
Nick earned a BA in Women’s and Gender Studies from University of Redlands and a MEd in College Student Services Administration.
"As a child of the IE who was out and queer with few visible role models or spaces to connect with others, Joshua Home and The CENTER @ Joshua Home are so important to me. With the news of physical and political attacks on LGBTQ+ people, especially trans youth, I am proud to be a part of helping create safe and welcoming spaces for people in my community."
Joseph Fraile - Social Media Team Manager
Help us welcome Joseph Fraile to the team, he was raised in Riverside, Ca.
He lives with an 18 year old Chihuahua named Kona and has been working in Digital Media since 2023.
He was a social media lead for the nonprofit Norooz Clinic to help spread mental health awareness in Santa Ana.
In his free time, he is an avid music lover learning how to be a DJ and builds floral
Lego sets.
